1803 Draped Bust Half Cent 1/2C PCGS VF25
Typical of early federal coinage, the number of half cents coined with the date 1803 is uncertain. Different sources give figures of 97,900 or 92,000, while scholar Walter Breen speculated that supplemental production during 1804 may have brought the total as high as 381,900. This date is relatively common in circulated grades, while truly Mint State pieces are quite scarce. Cohen-2 is the scarcest of the four die marriages for this date, while the common C-3 has some added popularity as the Widely Spaced 3 variety in which numeral 3 is distant from the zero. C-1 is among the more often seen varieties.
